Metropolitan Imageworks

Check out these two cutie- patooties!  Maddie and Lanie were such troopers during our very hot and humid portrait session!  I, for one, felt the trickle of sweat dripping down my back as we trekked around the gorgeous grounds of Cantigny.  I’ve had the pleasure of photographing both Maddie and Lanie as newborns and then again for a couple sessions in-between.  The girls are so much fun and do so well in front of my camera!  Mom and Dad requested a few shots of the two of them, something they haven’t done since their wedding!

It only took me 6 months to meet little Caelan but it was totally worth the wait! He is definitely a little charmer.  And his little guy giggles melted my heart from the get go.  Big sis’ Ashlyn is now three-and a half years old, and to think I photographed her every three months since she was a teeny, tiny newborn and now she is a little lady and so polite! She is a big help with her little bro and waited patiently for her turn in front of the camera and even played for a bit in her room while we did yet another costume change for Cael and some more solo shots of him.  Princess Aly even made an appearance and I didn’t mind being one of her subjects as she waved her wand and turned me into a puppy! Even better was walking into different rooms in their home and seeing amazing photo displays filled with framed images I have captured over the years, reminding me again what a very important job I have!

I know I often mention how I have repeat portrait clients and many babies and children I photograph throughout their milestones.  As I am sitting here editing images from my three wonderful portrait sessions yesterday, I cannot help but smile, feel the warm fuzzies and and overall sense of satisfaction of knowing my defined role in these families lives.  Seriously, they trust me for YEARS to document their childrens’ growth through my eyes and my art. As Holden and Elyse’s mom mentioned to a neighbor who happened upon the outdoor portion of our shoot, “Portraits of my children are art and that is what I want hung up on my walls.” I especially love taking photos of three-year old Holden jumping around on his mom’s bed with his framed newborn and 3-month shots on the wall in the background.  This session was a bit challenging as Elyse’s personality emerged and she was a superstar during each of her solo parts yet each time we tried to take a photo of the two of them together she did not appreciate having to share the attention with her older brother. Very much looking forward to the next time I get to work with Holden and Elyse, which in my opinion is the best way to end a portraits session.

I spent an early morning on the lakefront with two of my favorite siblings, Ezra & Zora, for their 18-month portrait session.  Grandma R joined us again as well as aunt P. We got to do some family groupings as well as individuals of Ezra and Zora. These two are still keeping me on my toes and I love every second of it!  I’m adding some more tricks to my bag for their two-year session this winter because I am sure by then their favorite word will be, “No!”

Carter and Evie’s shoot was my third one this week of little boys I have photographed in years past and now a little sister is added to the mix.  My last session with Carter was when he was six months old, not very mobile and full of smiles.  Now he just turned two years old and he likes to run around, karate kick and shy away from my camera.  Little sister Evie is eight months old, a fast crawler, a fancy poser and full of big grins.  I had a great time working with them and I captured a couple cute shots of the two of them together too!
